Programs
AT FM TENNIS ACADEMY
Tiny
Tots -
ages 5-8
For
the younger kids a strong emphasis is placed on hand-eye
coordination. Fun games and drills are used to introduce the
game of tennis. For the beginner level players we will develop
techniques necessary for stroke production.
Grand
Slam - ages 9
-13
This
group is designed for the older kids with more experience in
match play, private lessons etc.
Players in the Grand Slam Group will be encouraged to
play in area tournaments and should be playing for their school
tennis team. Kids
in this group will also be encouraged to represent FM Tennis
Academy in USTA Jr Team Tennis League.
ZAT
- ages 12-18
Before
any young beginning player can go on to become the next Roger
Federer or Melanie Oudin, they must first compete at the junior
level, what is called a ZAT tournament.
ZAT
is acronym for Zonal Advancement Tournaments. Playing a ZAT is a
first step toward achieving a junior state ranking. At the ZAT
level there are up to five USTA tournaments per month in
different places around Texas. After accumulating 65 points at
the ZAT level during a 12-month period, a player qualifies for
the Championship Division of USTA tournaments. We will
provide the direction needed for all of these players. Daily
drills will vary with supervised matchplay being an integral
part of this group. We will have fun but players must be
committed to hard work.
Super
Champs
- ages 12-18
As
it is said above, in juniors there are three levels of USTA
tournaments. Super Championships level is the top of them. To
qualify to Super
Champs a player
must accumulate a minimum of 65 points at Championships level.
Once a junior in Super Champs they start getting a state ranking
as well as a national ranking…
The number of our students that have been playing at Super
Champs tournaments grows as FM Tennis Academy grows itself. We
are very proud of each of them! This
is our goal to bring more juniors into this group every year.
We are working
in a creative small group atmosphere limited to 5-6 players. Our
previous playing and teaching experience provides the direction
needed for all of these players.
Junior
Varsity
This
level group lessons are targeted toward upper level junior
players who are active members of their high school tennis
programs and so should be committed to playing in school tennis
tournaments. We will work hard toward improving each player
individually while working in a group atmosphere. Our previous
playing and teaching experience will provide the direction
needed for all of these players. Daily drills will vary with
supervised matchplay being an integral part of this group. We
will have fun but players must be committed to hard work.
ADULTS
CLINICS
Ladies and Men are invited to our Adult Clinics (all levels).
These are drop-in drills, so no reservation is required! You
will be divided into groups of 6 or 7 and drill with different
pros. We practice doubles formations, volley drills, etc, etc.
Drop-in drills are casual, yet challenging, environment that
provides a good social introduction to the local tennis
community. The many yearly events include boot camps, socials,
mixers, leagues, and charity events. The Tennis Pro Shop has
everything to keep you informed of any upcoming leagues and
events. Come prepared to hit lots of balls and have fun!
